Alex: In his own mind, Alex has got it all. He's popular around school, he has Tia, a girlfriend that loves him more than anything, and he's got the looks, charm, personality, confidence, and the hormones to get any OTHER girl he wants...including Tia's friend, Melissa. What's worse? Alex knows he's got it all. He hasn't met too many girls that he couldn't get if he put his mind to it. Alex DOES have genuine feelings for Tia, but figures, "What she doesn't know won't hurt me." What HE doesn't know, however, could hurt him.

Jackie: Jackie loves to write almost as much as she loves Tommy. Her and Tommy have been dating for about a year, and for the first time, she really feels like she's in love. What Jackie isn't so sure about is sex. She's never done it before, and is still uncertain about what impact it will have on her relationship with Tommy. Will she lose Tommy if she does have sex with him, or will Tommy leave her for someone who's willing to, "give it up?"

Melissa: When Melissa went to Tommy's house party, she never expected that she'd lose her virginity, let alone lose it to her friend's boyfriend. Melissa feels really guilty for sleeping with Alex, even if she was drunk at the time. She wants to tell Tia what happened, but Melissa feels so guilty that she can't even face Tia. Plus, there's still a possibility that she could be pregnant or even worse. Right now, the only thing Melissa is sure of is how badly Alex used her.

Tia: Much like Jackie, Tia is very heavily in love with her boyfriend, Alex. She resents her parents for being so protective and not letting her spend more time with Alex, and she was especially pissed that she couldn't go to her cousin Tommy's party. She loves Alex, but isn't so sure where his commitments are at. Tia is willing to do anything, including having a baby, if it will guarantee that Alex will be with her forever.

Tommy: Tommy's another popular guy around school because of his regular house parties and his ties to sports. Tommy and Tia are like brother and sister, and is pretty secure knowing that she's with Alex, one of his closest friends. Though he's been with other girls, he thinks of Jackie as special, and can see himself spending the rest of his life with her. Tommy wants to show her how much he loves her, but Jackie says she's not ready to have sex. He's beginning to wonder if Jackie loves him as much as he loves her.
